The Bermuda Triangle

The Immortal Gazette: The Bermuda Triangle

The fires crackled merrily in the hearth, casting flickering shadows over the group. Alice, cozy in a plush chair, was sipping a cup of tea with far too much sugar for any normal person’s taste. Loki, ever the trickster, was lounging back, humming to himself as though he had an endless supply of things to entertain him. Rumplestiltskin, on the other hand, was far too serious for this moment, staring intently at the fire like it might reveal something important.

“Well, well, what are we diving into tonight?” Alice asked, twirling her spoon in her teacup, an eyebrow raised in playful curiosity. “It’s got that mysterious vibe about it.”

Loki gave her a sideways glance, lips twitching in amusement. “If Rumple’s in the mood for spooky stories, I bet we’re in for something quite interesting. Go ahead, Rumple. What’s the tale tonight?”

Rumplestiltskin leaned forward, eyes glittering with the excitement of a man about to drop a world-shattering secret. “Ah, The Bermuda Triangle—a place where ships vanish, planes disappear, and entire crews are never heard from again. Let me take you all on a journey into the heart of this infamous mystery.”

Alice grinned. “I’m listening. This one’s been all over the legends, right? The place where reality just… disappears?”

“Exactly,” Rumplestiltskin said, practically glowing. “The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the ‘Devil’s Triangle,’ is a region in the North Atlantic Ocean, roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. And it has been the site of strange disappearances and unexplainable phenomena for centuries.”

Loki raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Unexplainable, you say? You know I love a good puzzle.”

Rumplestiltskin nodded. “Many ships, aircraft, and even entire crews have vanished into thin air over the years. What makes the Bermuda Triangle so… fascinating is the sheer number of inexplicable disappearances—more than 1,000 people over the course of centuries, all vanishing without a trace.”

“So, let me get this straight,” Alice said, her finger tapping her chin in a playful gesture. “This place has nothing but bad vibes and strange happenings?”

“Oh, it’s not just bad vibes,” Rumplestiltskin replied with a sly smile. “It’s chaos wrapped in mystery. There’s a long history of ships encountering bizarre phenomena in the area—magnetic anomalies that cause navigational systems to fail, unexplained fogs, and storms that seem to appear out of nowhere. Some even believe that there are underwater caves that can suck entire ships into them.”

Loki leaned forward, eyes glinting with mischief. “Ah, a treasure map that no one can find, but you can’t escape, no matter how hard you try. Sounds like the kind of place I would get lost in on purpose.”

Exactly,” Rumplestiltskin said, nodding in approval. “Some believe there are supernatural forces at play—anything from alien abductions to lost cities beneath the waves. The theories are endless. But, of course, there’s no hard evidence for anything.”

Alice squinted at Rumplestiltskin, suddenly more serious. “Wait, so you’re telling me this entire place just… exists with no real explanation? Ships and planes disappear and no one can figure out why?”

“Well, not exactly,” Rumplestiltskin said, leaning back in his chair. “There are plenty of explanations—magnetic fields that interfere with compasses, sudden weather changes, and even human error. Some scientists believe that methane gas eruptions from the ocean floor could create bubbles large enough to sink ships. But the truth is, no one really knows for sure.”

Loki snorted, unimpressed. “Science? That’s your explanation? How boring.”

“Of course,” Rumplestiltskin said, with an exaggerated roll of his eyes, “there’s always room for a little mystery. But let me tell you, it’s not always the scientific approach that piques the interest of a true storyteller.”

“Well, what’s your take on it, then?” Alice asked, leaning in, her eyes bright with curiosity.

Rumplestiltskin’s smile grew wider, and he leaned forward dramatically. “There are tales—whispers, if you will—that the Bermuda Triangle is a gateway. A portal between worlds, perhaps. Or maybe it’s a place where time itself warps, and ships and planes simply slip away into another dimension.”

“A dimension, huh?” Loki smirked. “I’ve heard crazier theories. But you can’t blame me for thinking that might be the most likely option.”

“Well, if we’re speaking of theories, there are those who claim the lost city of Atlantis lies somewhere beneath the waters of the Bermuda Triangle,” Rumplestiltskin added with a wink. “Perhaps those lost ships are just unwitting guests at the world’s oldest and most mysterious underwater party.”

Alice gave him a sharp look, not buying into the whimsy of it all. “So… you’re saying it’s the Atlantis angle now? That’s your big twist?”

Rumplestiltskin shrugged casually. “Hey, I’m just here to offer the possibilities. There’s something quite alluring about the idea that the Bermuda Triangle is a kind of cursed place, where the boundaries of reality and fantasy collide.”

“Sounds like a perfect home for me,” Loki said with a mischievous grin. “I love a good mystery, and that would be just my luck.”

“Don’t get too comfortable, Loki,” Alice teased, tossing him a playful glance. “We might never make it back from a place like that.”

Rumplestiltskin smirked, enjoying the banter. “Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. You might get lost there, but remember, there’s always a price for crossing into the unknown.”

“And knowing my luck,” Loki mused, leaning back in his chair, “I’d probably get trapped in a mirror dimension where everything I say is twisted into sarcasm.”

Alice rolled her eyes. “Sounds like a real nightmare.”

“Now, now,” Rumplestiltskin said, raising his hands in mock defensiveness. “Let’s be real. We all know you’re far more likely to get sucked into a time vortex and end up stranded in a bizarre alternate universe where you never get to finish your favorite book series.”

Alice raised an eyebrow. “Touché.”

“But regardless of the what and the why, the Bermuda Triangle remains one of the greatest mysteries of the world,” Rumplestiltskin said. “It’s a place where sailors and travelers alike whisper in fearful tones. And while science might try to offer answers, some places are simply meant to remain… unsolvable.”

Loki sighed dramatically, tapping his fingers together. “Ah, but that’s what makes it so charming, isn’t it? A good mystery with no tidy solution.”

Alice raised her cup in a mock toast. “To mysteries that never get solved!”

To the Bermuda Triangle,” Rumplestiltskin agreed, clinking his glass with hers. “And to the unknown.”

The fire crackled on, the shadows dancing along the walls as the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle lingered in the air, untold but waiting to be unraveled by those daring enough to seek it.
