Guardians and Watchmen Secure Border Realms Amidst Cosmic Turbulence | The Immortal Gazette

Alice adjusted her hat—a ridiculous, extravagant thing with dark feathers and a touch of menace—before leaning forward, her fingers steepled like she was about to share the world’s best-kept secret.

"Ah, now this is a good one," she mused. "A tale as old as the stars themselves. Sit tight, dears, because tonight’s headline is a legend."

Rumple scoffed, swirling his ever-mysterious green drink. "Legends are just stories stretched too thin."

Loki smirked, lounging like he had all the time in the world. "Oh, I like this one. It involves realms on the brink of collapse, immortal warriors, and cosmic forces at war. What’s not to love?"

Alice’s grin sharpened. "Precisely."

Long before the cities of 4EverMore stood in their full splendor, before even the first whispers of the immortal courts, the Border Realms trembled. These were the outer edges of existence itself—the places where the fabric between worlds stretched dangerously thin. If left unguarded, the forces beyond could spill in, bringing destruction, madness, or worse—change.

And change was something the cosmos did not tolerate lightly.

At the heart of it all stood the Guardians and the Watchmen.

The Guardians were ancient, their power woven into the very stars. They were the protectors of realms, the silent sentinels who ensured the cosmos did not unravel. Their leader, a figure known only as The Aegis, wielded a blade of pure celestial fire, one that could cut through the void itself.

The Watchmen, however, were different. They were not bound by cosmic laws or ancient oaths. They were warriors, spies, enforcers—the hands that moved in shadow to keep the balance intact. While the Guardians stood as immovable bastions of order, the Watchmen acted.

And when the great Cosmic Turbulence threatened to shatter the Border Realms, it was these two forces that stood between existence and annihilation.

The sky turned to liquid fire, stars burned and fell like rain, and portals to unknown horrors began tearing open across the edges of reality. Entire cities on the brink of the Outerworld vanished overnight, devoured by the shifting chaos.

The Aegis, along with the strongest Guardians, took their place along the celestial rift, using their combined power to seal the cracks, but the force pressing against them was too great.

That was when the Watchmen struck.

Disguised in shadow, they infiltrated the heart of the storm, diving into the abyss itself. It was they who found the source of the chaos—a being known only as the Nameless One, an entity of unfathomable hunger, feeding off the unraveling of worlds.

There was no reasoning with it. No battle to be won. The Watchmen did what they did best.

They tricked it.

They whispered a tale so beautifully convincing, so laced with deception, that even the Nameless One hesitated. And in that instant of hesitation, the Guardians struck with all their might, sealing the Nameless One away beyond time.

And just like that, the Border Realms were secured once more.

Alice leaned back, her voice lowering to a near-whisper.

"And that, my dear ones, is why the Border Realms still stand. Because of the Guardians’ strength, and the Watchmen’s ability to do whatever was necessary."

Rumple exhaled, shaking his head. "A trick? They defeated an eldritch horror with a trick?"

Loki chuckled. "The best deceptions are the ones that reshape reality itself."

Alice raised a teacup—where it had come from, no one knew. "To the ones who keep the realms intact. Whether by blade or by lies."

Loki clinked his glass against hers, smirking.

Rumple just groaned. "I hate how much I enjoyed that story."

Alice grinned. "That, my dear Rumple, is why I tell them."

And so, another legend was recorded in the halls of The Immortal Gazette.
